Welcome to Valley College! We are excited to have you as part of our Monarch family. As a friendly reminder, Monday is a holiday so we look forward to seeing you for day and evening classes on Tuesday, September 2.

LAVC is committed to helping you kick of the school year on the right foot and reach your academic and career goals. Here’s some tips to get you ready for your first day of classes:

Student Questions & Support 

Welcome Center is Here to Help You 

The LAVC Welcome Center is your first stop to help you find what you're looking for at Valley College! You can reach us Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.:

How to Add a Class 

 Pro tip: You can add classes with open seats online thorough the second day of class through the Student Portal without a permission number.

Requesting a Permission Number to Add a Class 

After the second instructional day, you may request a permission number from the instructor to add the class. You can find your instructor’s email address on the Campus Directory.

Officially Enrolling with a Permission Number 

Once you receive a permission number, add your class in the Student Portal before the last day to add, to be officially enrolled.

Coming to Campus 

Campus Map & Parking

Check the campus map to help you locate your classroom, and find the best place to park. 

Parking permits are required for Fall 2025. Buy your $20 Fall Parking Permit online and pick it up in-person at the Business Office. Or, you can buy daily parking permits from a parking pay station for $2 per day. 

Starting September 15, 2025, all vehicles parked without a visible valid parking permit (employee permit for faculty & staff lots / student permit for student lots) may be cited.

Get Your FREE MetroGo Pass before Sept. 30 

Did you know you can take public transportation to campus at NO COST! All students enrolled in LAVC Fall 2025 classes are eligible to get a FREE Metro GoPass. Don’t miss out! Pick up your GoPass TAP Card at the Welcome Center or Business Office and activate it by September 30, 2025.

Online Classes 

Access Your Online Class 

To log into your online class through the SIS/Canvas: 

Help with Canvas 

Valley College Online is the place to help you with resources and assistance on Canvas! To access help in Canvas, log into the Student Portal. Click the "Help" (question mark icon) and select your main college campus. The "Canvas Support" link will take you to a page that allows you to search for questions related to Canvas and start an online chat with Canvas Support. 

Pay Your Fees & Buy Textbooks

Student Fees & Financial Aid

Don’t forget to pay your student fees! You can pay your registration and other fees online or in-person at the Business Office. You can also visit Financial Aid to get help paying for college with grants and other resources.

Getting Textbooks

Stop by the Campus Bookstore to purchase your textbooks, course materials, class supplies, backpacks, Monarch gear, etc. To search and buy your required textbooks and supplies, go to Buy Textbooks.
